New Year! New Opportunities
We continue to see God at work is through the ministry of the Flourish Community Development Corporation. This ministry, that Schweitzer helped start in 2021, is now heading into its second year of ministry and outreach.

As part of Schweitzer’s Christmas offering, our church and supporters gave over $15,500 to support Flourish. This generosity will continue to make a difference in the lives of people in Springfield. Already, there are several exciting new partnerships developing in the northwest part of town, and Flourish has a seat at the table.Currently, five women are participating in our Coach House Ministry that provides a home, mentorship, and encouragement during a season of transition. In two weeks, a new Jobs for Life class will begin at Schweitzer, offering job training and mentoring to a new group of participants.

Then in February, Flourish will offer a Faith & Finances class in a second area of town.

“Over the last decade, Schweitzer has created a solid foundation to address the needs of our community through its impact ministries,” said Jill Finney, Executive Director. “We are blessed to continue these programs and expand our reach in the coming year. God is hard at work in everything we do; 2022 is going to be a great year and I can’t wait to see what we can do together.”

Looking back at 2021, it’s incredible to see how the Flourish Food Pantry at Schweitzer provided for those in need. Throughout the year, this ministry served more 3,095 households and 9,494 individuals. Plus, this volunteer team distributed 497,000 pounds of food, worked with nine other organizations and logged over 7,100 hours! If you’d like to connect and volunteer with Flourish, sign up or learn more at flourishcdc.org or contact Jill Finney.
