Deeper Discipleship

Discipleship = Grow to Be Like JEsus

Schweitzer's mission is: "Transforming lives by making disciples of Jesus Christ." Here are some words that describe a transformed life: content, satisfied, abundant, full, free, and effective. You can live transformed in any combination of life circumstances.

Discipleship can take many forms, and they all involve three elements:

    1. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength
    2. Love others as yourself
    3. Living in community.

Schweitzer offers Classes, Life Groups, Bands, and Discipleship Mentors for deeper discipleship in close community.

Classes

Classes provide rich opportunities to grow deeper in discipleship. We grow in knowledge. We grow in healthy friendships that encourage and support us. As we are able to share from life experience and apply scriptural teachings, we grow in our faith and in our relationship with God. We offer Sunday Morning, Weekday, and Short-term classes. Each has different characteristics. All of them help you grow in loving God and others alongside people from many walks of life.

Groups

If you desire to go deeper in your discipleship while helping others do the same, this is a great place to start. Life Groups usually consist of 5-8 people who meet regularly to grow in relationship with Jesus and each other. If you have developed relationships with people and want to go deeper with Jesus and them, consider starting a Life Group.

Bands

Many people need the support of a Band to grow past certain levels of transformation with Jesus. Bands are groups of 3-5 people of the same gender who meet regularly to confess their sins to one another, and pray for healing and transformation for each other. Bands are inherently more intimate than Life Groups. They require a covenant with greater willingness and readiness to be vulnerable. If you have developed relationships with people and want to go deeper with Jesus and them, consider starting a Band.

Mentors

Have you been a Christian a while? Do you want to go deeper with Jesus but are uncertain how? Has your vibrant relationship with Jesus become dull or quiet? If you answer, “Yes!” to any of these questions, you may need a Discipleship Mentor. There is just something miraculous about two people meeting regularly to focus on abundant life in Jesus.
