About Flourish CDC

In Announcements by Schweitzer Church

Flourish CDC is an essential part of Schweitzer’s outreach to our local community. This non-profit community development corporation (CDC) launched our Schweitzer’s heart to serve the community in 2021. Today, as an independent organization, Flourish is serving the people of Springfield in innovative and life-transforming ways.

Throughout the Christmas season, we shared about Flourish and are proud to support this organization this Christmas. If you would like to give to Flourish, you can do this on the Giving page and designate Flourish using the dropdown the memo line of your offering envelope or check.

During week 2, we heard from Debbie Shantz Hart, Partner with DHTC Development, who was part of the team that selected Flourish as the Resource Coordinator for the Y Gardens and Nordic Landing Developments.

FLOURISH FOOD PANTRY AT SCHWEITZER

The Flourish Food Pantry at Schweitzer is open each Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 am to 2 pm. This pantry is led by a team of volunteers – most of whom attend Schweitzer Church. In September of 2023, we celebrate 20 years of operation as a food pantry. View the video below to learn more about the rich history of serving and generosity.

GET INVOLVED

Flourish differs from many organizations in that it comes alongside an individual to develop a personal relationship with them. Staff, mentors, and caring volunteers spend time with each person to understand their needs, challenges, and life goals. These people then help those we serve to develop a realistic path to a life of hope, health, and self-sufficiency.

We encourage anyone wanting to get involved in making a difference here in our local community to engage with the various ministries of Flourish, which include:

The Flourish Food Pantry at Schweitzer Church:
Open on Tuesdays & Wednesdays from 9 am to 2 pm. Located inside the Schweitzer Student Center.

The Coach House Minsitry: A transitional housing ministry for women
Jobs for Life Program: Providing job training, mentorship, encouragement and more.
Ongoing Classes including Faith and Finances, Boundaries, The Story of God and more.

Flourish is led by Executive Director Wayne Thompson and program director Camille Price.
