Pastor’s Note – July 2, 2020

In Pastor's Note by Schweitzer Church

This note marks my one-year anniversary as your pastor.

We’ve been through a lot together in this first year!

I can’t say thank you enough to how you have treated me and my family in this first year with you. We anticipated certain challenges this year like the difficulty of moving, meeting new people, building trust, and taking over for someone so well-respected as Bob Casady. You made those things easy and welcomed us so warmly I’m just so thankful for you.

It turns out that there was a whole other set of challenges in this first year that none of us saw coming. I’m just so proud of our church for how we’ve navigated them. In the midst of a “dark valley,” God has proven to be leading us. Our attendance has grown. Our giving has grown. We’ve welcomed new members. It’s really amazing how the church family has been together throughout this time.

One of the things we’ve all felt is how quickly things are changing. The pace of change is so fast right now it’s sometimes hard to keep up. We’ll be introducing a change this Sunday in worship. In both online and in-person worship services on Sunday, we will be celebrating communion.

As we come together this Sunday, we will be celebrating the mystery of Christ that he has died, he is risen, and he is coming again.

If you will be worshiping with us in-person on Sunday, we will be handing you a communion packet for you to safely receive communion with us.

If you will be worshiping with us online on Sunday, you will want to make sure you have supplies handy. If you would like to receive a communion packet for you in your home, contact the church office, and we’ll get one delivered to you: 417-881-6800.

This weekend is also Independence Day. We give thanks for the freedoms we share, especially our freedom to worship God for all that he has done. I hope you have a great Independence Day!

God is faithful.
