52 Stories

All of us have unique interactions with God, stories of God showing up in our lives. In these 52 Stories, people connected to Schweitzer share how God is present and transforming in their lives. In watching, may you be inspired in Hope, encouraged in Faith, and active in sharing your story of God’s presence in your life.

“You can’t look for consistency in human relationships or your own work. It’s God who is consistent in everything.”

Navigators Class Helps Coach House

Recently, a dozen members of the Navigators Sunday School class pitched in to spruce up our Coach House. Flower beds were raked, the house was power washed, shrubs were trimmed, and many sticks were piled into the trailer to be hauled off. They finished the morning sitting beneath the beautiful backyard shade tree in lawn chairs, while social distancing and enjoying sandwiches. It was a time of great fellowship with service, smiles, and a few sore muscles…but no mishaps. Praise God!

Would YOU be willing to serve?

Schweitzer is looking for people to serve in ministry in the following ways:

  • The Crosslines Volunteer Team serves the first Thursday of each month at the Crosslines warehouse, fulfilling food orders for clients.  The hours are 8:45 a.m. –1:45 p.m.
  • The Schweitzer Food Pantry would like to add volunteers on Tuesday or Wednesday from 9:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. to assist in organizing our food pantry.

If God is calling you to serve in one of these special ministries, please contact Sheila Pippin at 417-861-0861 or

Food Pantry News

In March, the Coronavirus upended our sense of normal. The Food Pantry saw a dramatic increase in families in Springfield and across SW Missouri seeking assistance. The Pantry responded, and was able to respond because of the generosity of God’s people, and the generous sharing of community partners. The surge of guests lasted for about 6 weeks. In May, the need began to recede, yet we still served guests from 192 families. Through our partnerships, the Pantry resourced 13 Organizations in SW Missouri with 62,400 pounds of food, that they shared with their neighbors.

We are thankful for prayers, gifts, and volunteer hours that propel this work of mercy. To know more about the pantry, contact Krista Rosenbaum at or 417-881-6800.
