Coronavirus Precautions
Schweitzer will be taking immediate steps to protect our church family from the spread of the coronavirus:
- Please refrain from shaking hands during the greeting time in worship. A verbal greeting is appropriate.
- We will be changing how we offer food and beverage on Sunday morning.
- We will begin offering individual servings of communion elements.
We are following and supportive of guidelines set by the Springfield-Greene County Health Department in protecting our church family. Currently, the Health Department is issuing a warning to those with chronic illness.
52 Stories
All of us have unique interactions with God, stories of God showing up in our lives. In these 52 Stories, people connected to Schweitzer share how God is present and transforming in their lives. In watching, may you be inspired in Hope, encouraged in Faith, and active in sharing your story of God’s presence in your life.

Easter Volunteers are Needed!
We’re planning a GREAT CELEBRATION for EASTER SUNDAY, APRIL 12, and our First Impressions Ministry is adding 65 extra volunteers! If you would be willing to donate an hour of your time to help out in our EASTER PHOTO BOOTH, GOLF CART TEAM, or HOSPITALITY TEAM on Easter Sunday, please contact Sheila Pippin, Director of First Impressions, at spippin@sumc.co, 417-881-6800, ext. 230, or 417-861-0861 (call or text). Thank you!
The Chancel Choir has welcomed a couple of younger singers to our group.
Ainsley Cologna joins her mother Nicole Cologna for Wednesday choir rehearsals and Sunday worship. Ainsley is a 6th-grader at Cherokee Middle School and is very musical; she plays piano, violin, and ukulele and has been selected for school honor choirs. In January, she was in Kickapoo’s production of Frozen. Recently, Ainsley volunteered to give a devotional at rehearsal, which the choir really appreciated.
At 5 years old, Lucy Nelson is our youngest choir member! Lucy is a Kindergartner at Hickory Hills. She loves Barbie dolls, princesses and playing with her friends. Lucy has asked her parents for lessons in piano, guitar, violin and flute, which will happen as she grows older. On Sunday mornings, Lucy joins her mother Gen Nelson in the choir loft. She even has her own choir robe!
