What is a song you like to sing at church? Why is it a favorite? 

Be honest, do you like to sing at church? Why, or why not?

Gathering Prayer. 

Father, by Your Spirit, would you guide us into all truth. Help us to hear and be attentive to Your voice as we work through this study. In the name of Jesus, Your Son, we pray, Amen.

The Jesus Hymn | Philippians 2:6-9

  • What stands out to you about how Jesus is described here? 
  • What picture of Jesus have you been draw to most often? How does this hymn contribute to your picture?

Isaiah |  Isaiah 45:22-24 

  • Verse 23 of Isaiah is used by in the hymn about God bringing ‘every knee’ to the point where they declare their allegiance to Christ. How do you understand what God is saying here about people, tribes, and nations? What is God’s interest in the world? How does that interest with our own? 
  • Of the number of elements in a Jesus centered worship, can you name some where you sensed Christ was speaking to you? Were you surprised? 
  • C. S. Lewis said, [When you pretend in the way of Jesus, you find,] “the real Son of God is at your side. He is beginning to turn you into the same kind of thing as Himself. He is beginning, so to speak, to ‘inject’ His kind of life and thought, His Zoe, into you… “(Mere Christianity, 189) Have you experienced this? What might be a way where you could enter into a way of playing/pretending with Jesus?
