Exodus 12:1-42

  • Put yourself in the shoes of the Israelites. What would you be thinking and feeling on this night? 
  • Put yourself in the shoes of the Egyptians and Pharaoh. What would you be thinking and feeling on this night?
  • Discuss the significance that the Israelites were not saved simply because they were Israelites. Likewise, the Egyptians could have been spared the judgment if they had covered their doors with the blood of the lamb. What does this detail teach us about salvation? 

Genesis 22:1-8

  • Point out all the similarities to Jesus that you see in this passage. 

Luke 22:7-23

  • In what ways does Jesus fulfill the role of the substitute lamb?
  • Reflect on John 3:16. How does reading this famous passage in light of the substitute lamb deepen your understanding of God’s gift of his Son?

Revelation 22:1-5

  • These verses describe God’s great victory fully realized. Twice in these verses, John describes Jesus as “the lamb.” What is the connection between God’s great and final victory and the substitutionary lamb?
