Discussion Guide | DAVID | David’s Last Words | 1 Chronicles 28

Gathering Question:

What is one way you have seen God at work in your life this past week?

Gathering Prayer.

Father, by Your Spirit, would you guide us into all truth. Help us to hear and be attentive to Your voice as we work through this study. In the name of Jesus, Your Son, we pray, Amen.

Opening Questions

  • What stood out to you in the sermon?
  • What insights did you gain?
  • What questions did it raise?

1 Chronicles 28:1-10

  • What stands out to you most from David’s last speech?
  • Why do you think he emphasizes what he does?

1 Chronicles 28:9 “…acknowledge the God of your Father…”

  • Acknowledge is translated from the Hebrew word yada. For other examples of this word yada read Psalm 9:10, Exodus 2:25, and Genesis 4:1.  What does this teach us about what it means to know the Lord?
  • How would you describe the difference between knowing God and knowing about God?
  • If you were going to help someone who wanted to know God better, what practical advice would you give them?

1 Chronicles 28:9 “…serve him with wholehearted devotion and with a willing mind…”

  • What is your response to this point from the sermon: “you can either serve the Lord or you will end up serving something else”?
  • Why is it that when we pursue or chase after things other than the Lord we end up serving them instead of those things serving us?
