Funeral Hospitality Team
The Congregational Care Team is looking for people to serve on our Funeral Hospitality Teams.  We would like to build 3-4 teams of volunteers who would host receptions for funerals that are held here at the church.  If you're interested in serving in this caring ministry, please contact Pastor Sheila Pippin at spippin@schweitzer.church or call the church office.


AUDIO TECH
We are looking for people who enjoy worship, sound and music with some technical skill or desire to learn. This person will work with our Technical Director to run sound on Sunday mornings. Contact Taylor Likes for more details or complete the form below.

Engaging Worship

Chancel Choir


The Chancel Choir is an important part of traditional worship where we praise and honor God through music. Everyone is welcome to join us regardless of musical ability. We meet Wednesday nights, August-June, and available choir members sing at 8:20 or 11:00 worship service.

Handbells and chimes bring beautiful music to traditional worship. You are invited to ring with us, no experience is necessary, but music reading ability is preferable. Rehearsals are Tuesday nights September - May.

Assist the Creative Producer and Worship Leader in making sure all graphics and worship lyrics are displayed for the service. This position requires someone who is quick on his or her feet and not afraid of computers. We will offer training on the ProPresenter Software.

One of the elements that makes worship in the Outreach Center unique, is our usage of stage lighting. This position requires someone who is quick on his or her feet, likes pushing big buttons, and enjoys creating a unique atmosphere for worship. We offer training on the lighting system software/board and we welcome creative input from our volunteers!

Preschool class helper


reschool Teacher- Helps teach & lead activities with preschool aged kids in either the 2 & 3 year old class or 4 & 5 year old class during the 9 or 10:30 services.

Help 7th–12th Grade students discuss spiritual topics on Wednesday nights as they break out from a large group message. Facilitators are responsible for walking students through faith topics relevant to their lives.

Youth worship is an essential part of our students' Wednesday Night experience! home visitor


A home visitor makes a friendly visit to one or two homebound or limited attendance members once a month. You will be assigned the same person with the purpose of helping that person stay connected to Jesus and Schweitzer.

Once a month, different drivers use the church van to pick up children in the area to visit their moms in prison in Chillicothe, Missouri. A Background Check and Safe Sanctuary Training is required.

Community Impact

Life Change Plan


This is a 1-year structured discipleship program primarily for those re-entering from incarceration, in long-term recovery, and/or generational poverty. Become a mentor for one of these men and women and watch God not only change their life, but also yours through your commitment of time and prayer and love in this new Christ-centered relationship.

A wonderful opportunity to use your gift of prayer! Provide a moment of spiritual comfort to persons who receive physical support from the Schweitzer Food Pantry. Serve 2 1/2 hours weekly.

east stanford neighborhood garden


Create community and produce food in the East Stanford Neighborhood Garden. We need people to mow and/or weed eat, along with an easy-to-use mower. Other ways to participate include turning compost, weeding, taking the trash and rocks to the dumpster. An immediate need is to put together and paint items for the children’s garden.

Every 3rd Thursday, from 7:45 to 8:15 a.m., at Pittman, men from the church run a simple and powerful breakfast with fun activities and discussions for dads and their kids. If you have the heart and passion, there is a way for you to help.

Volunteers are needed every Tuesday afternoon during the school year. Opportunities include everything from snack coordination to teaching the Bible Story. This team receives training and requires a background check.

An 8-week program that helps people get a job, along with preparing them to be solid, long term employees. We work to break the job-to-job cycle in people’s lives, by restoring value, self-worth and dignity. We are looking for champion/mentors, meal providers for one or more classes, transport van drivers, and prayer partners.

Help collect items or assist in the “store” in this Pittman school program to reinforce positive choices. Kids earn points to spend.
