Who is Schweitzer Church

In Announcements by Schweitzer Church

We are a Christ-Centered, Community-Focused Church in the Methodist tradition. We live out our mission of “transforming lives by making disciples of Jesus Christ” using these guiding values.

WE ARE CHRIST CENTERED

WE WORSHIP TOGETHER
Together we lift up Jesus Christ as Lord and seek to glorify him in all things.

Biblical Reference: Philippians 2:9-11
For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

WE CARE FOR ONE ANOTHER
Together we will live into Jesus Christ’s command to love one another.

Biblical Reference: John 13:34
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another.

WE ARE ENGAGED IN FORMATION
Together we will grow in relationship with Christ and be transformed by
his power at work in us.

Biblical Reference: Colossians 2:6-7
Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed, and
overflowing with gratitude.

WE ARE COMMUNITY FOCUSED

WE ENGAGE IN EVANGELISM
Together we will invite our community to trust in Christ and follow him as Lord.

Biblical Reference: Mark 16:15
And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.”

WE SERVE OUR
COMMUNITY
Together we will serve our community in acts of mercy and love.

Biblical Reference: Matthew 25:40“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’”

WE PURSUE HEALING

Together we will work for God’s will be done in our community so people live in the freedom
of life in Christ.

Biblical Reference: Luke 4:18-19, (Isaiah 61:1)

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,
Because He anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor.
He has sent Me to proclaim release to the captives,
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set free those who are oppressed,
To proclaim the favorable year of the Lord.”
